I have been eating paleo for a while now... and I need to figure out how to lose this last bit of fat.. about 8 pounds!! I need to keep this as simple as possible.. but I have been trying the one meal a day thing for a while and it seems to be doing ok.. I have eaten a LOT of nuts and and apple.. should I stop eating nuts all together and forget fruit as well? I am going out of town in a month and want to lose 8 pounds of fat. What is the simplest, surest way of losing PURE fat? Also I haven't been exercising much lately.. does that have an effect on fat loss? Or does it just burn calories and make you hungry? Working out while fasting? THanks for reading!

Edit: I eat a lot of meat during my meal.

Firstly, as other's have mentioned, how do you know that you need to lose exactly 8 pounds? That's very specific. How did you arrive at that number?

Secondly, simply cutting calories doesn't always work. Your body is smarter than that and will try to hold on to it's weight, especially if most of those calories come from something like fruit. This of course differs per person, but in my case, for example, if I'm eating the typical SAD diet, my body fights to hold onto it's weight at various points. For example, even if I'm eating trash, my weight will hover around 200 pounds, unless I eat junk for too long and then it will move up to another homoeostatic point.

My question is, why aren't you focusing on protein and fat, instead of superfluous foods like nuts and fruits? For example, when I switch to a 80/20 paleo diet, my body seems to ignore those homoeostatic points, and focus on burning fat.

To sum up, then. Why not focus on the core paleo foods, and add in intermittent fasting to shake things up? For example, eat dinner, breakfast and lunch, and then don't eat again until dinner on the follow day? Or eat in an 8 hour window every day. As for what to eat, focus on the core paleo foods like meat and veggies.

As for exercise, as many have said before, losing fat is 85%+ diet, with the rest being expending your energy through exercise. If you feel like you want to add some exercise in, I'd focus on weight lifting first, with some high intensity cardio secondary.

Last note, there seems to be some benefit to lifting weights while fasted, but mostly for muscle growth.

Go zero-carb for a while and limit eating to a 6 hour window (2-8p).

You might also try extended carb/protein restricted keto-fasting. For example, beginning Fri 8p and ending Sun 2p, don't eat anything but conconut oil (eat 6 Tbs min on Sat). Also, workout hard Sat AM (high intensity interval training); you will SHRED fat Sat PM while sleeping.

My best solution for burning fat (esp. stubborn fat) is to log every bite you put in your mouth...I use fitday.com and keep your carbs under 50g a day. That's it. After a day or 2, depending on your current weight can start dropping as much as a pound a day. Keeping your carb intake so low forces your body to use stored fat for energy...and yes, I would exercize in a Crossfit or HIIT sort of way.

Fructose is the primary determiner of adiposity. You must still have some in your diet. Eliminate it.

Are you sure that you need to lose eight pounds of fat? What is your current body fat percentage?

One meal a day of apples and nuts does not sound healthy. What else are you eating? One meal a day of anything is probably not enough.
