Lack of weight gain during pregnancy on Paleo?

I'm 33 weeks along in my pregnancy. In the beginning, I lost 12 pounds, but I attribute this to the lack of hunger, queasiness, and being more conscious of making sure that what I did eat was nutritious. I've only gained 10 pounds since then, and I haven't put on weight in about a month =( I'm worried. My doctor says everything is fine and baby is obviously growing but I just don't get it! I mean for crying out loud, we just had the holidays and I had more than my fair share of carrot cake and other non paleo items. But now that I'm back on Paleo after a couple weeks of bad eating, the extra 4 pounds that I put on fell right back off. Is this normal for a Paleo pregnancy? I've heard that you don't gain as much but this just seems so drastic. When I was on the SAD diet with my first pregnancy, I gained 29 pounds which was average. It's just hard to look at the scale and not see the numbers going up. Anyone else out there not gain much with their or their partners pregnancy?

hmmm if you're doctor says your baby looks good, then i wouldn't stress about it. i've never been pregnant but i watch those "i didn't know i was pregnant shows." some of those girls only gain 5-10 lbs the whole nine months and that's why they never notice it. i still haven't seen a paleo follower on there!

I'm 6 feet tall and now weigh 174. I could stand to loose a little bit of fat but I'm not medically overweight.

when I was preg I started at 135, dropped down to 120 at 12 weeks and gave birth at 147. The baby weighed 7.8 lbs and my placenta was 10 (and the most healthy one my doctor had ever seen). I walked out of the hospital at 130 lbs and a flat stomache. I also didn't "look pregnant" until my stomach wall gave at 7 1/2 months, and even then I only gained about 6" on my waist.

As long as your bloodwork is good, you have energy I wouldn't worry about it. you might come out of the hospital looking like you never were pregant. You know, those other women hate lol

what is your height and weight now?? are you underweight/overweight?? if you are overweight to begin with, losing weight during pregnancy is still beneficial. not everyone gains a lot of weight during pregnancy.

I wouldn't worry if your doctor isn't concerned. My sister in law never gained more than 5 lbs during her pregnancies, and that's on the SAD. A friend I talked to only gained 9 lbs during her paleo pregnancy and then had an 8 lb baby. If baby is growing, he/she is getting they need. You are more likely to be the one who suffers. Eat a wide variety until your satisfied. If you feel good, more than likely so does your baby.
