Is Paleohacks a danger to your health?

Recently, I've begun to wonder if spending so much time on paleohacks (i.e. http://paleohacks.com/questions/53438/you-know-you-are-a-paleohacks-addict-when#axzz1V7EyQGvG) or reading numerous blog posts about paleo ideas may actually be harmful to one's overall well being. While, the intention is to better our health.

One, I don't think it's beneficial to constantly be thinking about your health, or yourself for that matter. And, although I've learned a lot on this site and think its a great resource, I see way too many questions such as "OMG I just ate a whole bag of cashews!! Are they paleo?" Questions such as these are probably causing more damage via cortisol release than all the lectins in the cashews.

My point is, perhaps we would all just be better off sticking to the general accepted paleo principles, eat grass fed meat, veggies, fruit, etc, adequate sleep, minimize stress, and exercise than constantly checking paleo-hacks, reading blog posts to see the latest opinion on potatoes, and worrying about if what we ate is truly "paleo." Of course, the science is constantly changing and evolving but is it really necessary to be on the look out for it on a daily basis?

I seem to recall a similar point raised by Yvette, but I guess she was lynched.

Melissa, I guess I did assume that. Selfishly, many of us here are glad you have a boring job, as I find your responses well informed and helpful.

(BTW, I upvoted your comment Melissa because I also spend an inordinate amount of time on this site while I'm at work, not because I'd like to see less of you on here!) Your presence is highly appreciated. :)

you assume most of us read it because we are obsessed with health. Personally, I'm here because I have a boring soul-sucking job. Expect to see much less of me when I quit.

Personally, I'm still learning about Paleo. That's why I am here and why I am catching up on reading blogs from people like Mark Sisson and Rob Wolff.

Yes it is bad for my health because I stay up too late reading it instead of sleeping! I joined because my friends think I'm crazy for eating organ meats and I need the community of it. I know only 1 other person on paleo. It's great to hear everybody's perspectives.

Some times, yes. Most the time, no. And occasionally it even helps my health.

Yes. Lots of bad advice and if possible, hands smacked with rulers. pun intended.

If you have to ask, you probably already know the answer to that.

It depends:

If you're new to the paleo game, then this is a great site!

If you're not new, but have a specific question, this is a great site, but be careful!

If you're not new to the paleo world, have read everything on all the primary blogs for a couple of years, this site is dangerous!!! Fun, but dangerous. Interesting, but dangerous.

Hell, even this answer of mine is putting myself through some danger. But hey, a little danger now and then is ok, isn't it? You know, hormesis and stuff. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger? Living on the edge? No?

;)
