Is electricity/wifi paleo?

Seems like it might be more paleo to turn off your power and use fires / candles. I did it the other day for a day and it straight up reminded me of camping. So what do you think, is electricity or wifi paleo and would you be willing to give it up for one day a week?

Not really sure about that, and as a software engineer, I'd pray so that the outcome is not so threatening as some may say. Nonetheless, yesterday for the first time I lightened two candles for my nightly reading session instead of letting the lights on. And recently I also started turning the PC off every night (been running 24/7 before).

I really like the idea (Mark Sission's idea) of taking occasional vacations from electricity. I've tried it in-house a few times, and for the half of the year that weather permits, I camp frequently.

However, having lived for nine months without running water (we trucked in 55gal barrels of clean water), without electricity, and without heat (other than the wood stove) - I will say that it is SIGNIFICANTLY different living long term without these things.

I was still working 50 hours a week at the time, and I will say that there were some nights where I'd have to go outside in the 20 degree weather to chop some wood to make dinner, after having been at work the entire day, and those were some of the more miserable moments of my life; being too hungry, too cold, too tired to do the work, but knowing that I couldn't eat without doing so (which is pseudo-acceptable), but moreover that I couldn't sleep without doing so, because I'd freeze.

I think that we've lost some perspective of the difficulty of utter survival in such a sense, in the modern world, and I won't say anything quite as cliche as "it builds character", but I will say that it has made me cognizant of the times when I take advantage of modernity, these days.

A bit more on-topic: I do believe completely in the cognitive changes that happen after X number of days away from one's cell phone (generally accepted answer is 3 or 4 days), and I make an effort to find 3 day gaps where I don't look at a "screen" of any sort, as often as I can.

I would be willing to give up my wi-fi connection for longer than a week. Unfortunately now I have to do a lot of research (mostly about medicine), and it is just not feasible.

I have tried using natural lighting for two days (after reading up on Jack Kruze) but it did not make any difference so I went back to using electric lighting at night.

I gave up my cable 8 years ago and have NO REGRETS.

Why will going backward help us become more or less Paleo?

Truth.
