Is Chiropractic a legitimate science?

My old chiropractor offered "detoxing footbaths" and even recommended I take one for "heavy metals toxicity". I feel as if the legitimacy of this is dubious as when I performed some self-research, I found that a footbath was simply a parlor trick to make you think that stuff was coming out of your body in which it is actually not.

I began to question the rest of his treatment. I do believe he offered me some sound nutritional advice, which led me to beginning the Paleo Diet. However, I find it hard to believe that spinal manipulation has any effect whatsoever on health problems. When I followed his nutritonal advice, the problems went away for the most part; when I did not, the therapy alone did not solve any of my problems. I've additionally found, when adapting my diet, the problems went away on their own without any sort of therapy.

I'm curious at this point who to find and who to trust, that can help treat my problems without throwing pills at me or trying to manipulate my spine.

Not really my point. At all. And is it impossible that a nutritionist could work within a Paleo lifestyle? Yes it is.

Paleo advice goes directly against mainstream nutritional advice; so, a paleo forum is not the place to recommend "if you want nutritional advice, see a nutritionist." We disagree with almost all the core points of mainstream nutrition, once you leave behind the simple cliches like "eat your vegetables" (which of course we disagree with!).

You're wrong, a footbath is simply a bath for feet. If stuff comes out of you during one, perhaps you have a fetish. This is not the board for fetishes. Try Craigslist.

Your doctor was not practicing any Chiropractics that I'm aware of.

If you're experiencing muscular/skeletal difficulties I'd rank a Chiropractor as more valuable than an Orthopaedic any day of the week.

If you want nutritional advice see a nutritionist. Maybe this Dr has credentials to practice more than Chiro... but what you're talking about isn't Chiropractics.

Eat well and do lots of yoga. Doctors are just trying to come up with reasons why you should give them money, trust none of them.
