Is CAFO beef as bad as grains?

Personally, I've come to regard 100% grass fed-grass finished beef to be the only "real" beef. If beef isnt 100% grass fed/finished, I don't touch it.

Just how bad is grain and soy feed beef? Do you think it's as bad as grains themselves? Personally, I think it's not far off. All these studies showing that beef increasing heart disease and cancer are probably true if the beef isn't grass fed/finished.

It's not nearly as bad as grains, no. While animals might not eat "grains" per se in their natural environment, they still eat grasses, which are rather similar. The crowding and antibiotics add another layer of badness to the health of the meat, possibly as big as eating grains. But overall, it's actually healthier eating grain-fed beef than eating grain/soy-fed farmed fish (because fish don't even eat grass, they're completely alien to land plant foods).

Given the huge intolerance people report here and elsewhere, I think it's safe to say that grains for humans (at least in their modern, over-consumption nature) is way worse than eating grain-fed beef.
