How fast is Paleo growing?

I ask this because I have yet to meet a single cavemen or cave girl in person. I live in Florida by the way.

Most of my friends truly know less than nothing about nutrition, and could care less as long as they aren't fat.

I'm in Orlando. I buy grass fed stuff from Whole Foods, or wild-caught seafood from anywhere else. I add alot of fat to the meal cause it's not cheap, until I find a farm to buy from!

I wish! My Whole Foods is actually the cheapest option, although I'm thinking about switching to a local farmer just for health purposes because I'm sure it's better (and I'm lucky...I have the money)

I second Leah's question, only I'm in Miami-Dade. But I might be able to make a meetup in Broward...

Not quite sure about the actual term "paleo" ..but things like "sugar free" and "glutten free" and "low carb" are quite prevalent, so i think the ideas have very much infiltrated mainstream if not the actual term. How old are your friends?? I didnt care much about what i ate either when i was younger cuz i felt INVISIBLE ! :)

I've noticed a lot more people being aware of it as a concept. But it has also picked up that sort of silly "Oh, the caveman thing. Are you going to go put on your loincloth and have feast?". More people have heard of it but are pretty misinformed about what it really means. I take issue with people associating it directly with weight loss goals or fad diets. I feel like this is really missing the point.

Regarding people I've actually met who are doing a paleo-primal thing, there are a lot of ex-vegans and grown up punk kids that take it pretty seriously and take damn good care of themselves.

I was traveling in UK. I avoided talking about paleo, but when I ate with other people I do say I tend to avoid bread and excess grains.

Then a Spanish girl in the same hostel asked me ... oh, so it's the primal diet? She also commented on how one of her friends lost weight on that one.

Guess it is more popular than I expected.

I'm a paleo girl and I live in Florida. I imagine it's growing. I became interested after I found out I had to go gluten-free and dairy-free.

So a random aside from my weekend. I was at a mall this, in a sitting area, opened my phone and popped open Paleohacks. A man sitting next to me said, "Hey PaleoHacks, I used to love that site." We talked a bit, and another guy sitting near us chimed in.

Three paleo followers at the same mall in the same sitting area...

If you look at google trends:

Paleo is definitely gaining popularity. Check out one of the meetups to meet people in your area: http://paleo-diet.meetup.com/

I think it is gaining popularity. My son introduced me to the paleo lifestyle. Not long after I began I learned that in my small town (population 350) that the coach on the schools football team had lost a bunch of weight eating that way.
