Help with calories and macro-nutrients

Hello,

I am no starnger to exercise and nutrition, but my question is this. Do I need to eat more? I know that the Paleo Protocol states that you need only to eat when you are hungry, but this is only getting me maybe 1,000 calories a day at best. I can honestly say that I am not that hungry so I simply do not eat as the protocol states. My goal is fat loss here. I weigh 218 and have about 19% body fat. I lift heavily and run 6 days a week. I really like how I feel using this protocol as opposed to say Lean Gains where I was just shoveling food down my throat. I had really good results with LG eating 1800cal on burns and 2200cal on builds, but I really wanted to try out the Paleo Protocol. I am eating very clean and not cheating what so ever. I saw great results the first two weeks eating this way, but progress has seemed to stop. I base this not on scale weight, but how my clothing is fitting and how I look in the mirror.

Thanks greymouser, From the research I had done it appeared that the "paleo diet" was an exclusive way of eating and LG was something completely different. I like your suggestion of combining both and I will put this into effect today.

Only because you used that word so many times, paleo isn't some capital-P Protocol. In fact, it's not exclusive of lean gains either - you'll find many people here that do both. LG is more about macronutrients, workouts, and eating windows; paleo in this regard is more about the food choices you make (and can inform exercise decisions too).

So, if LG was working for you ... continue! :-) Just allow yourself to make paleo-inspired choices on LG.

How is your energy? If you energy is low, or you find your workouts getting harder, then you may be eating too little. Try eating more energy dense, higher fat foods.

1000 calories is low, but if your hunger and energy are good, then I wouldn't worry too much. Stalls happen, if it's only a couple of weeks, then push through... If it becomes a month, then you need to reasses.

Here's a couple of posts from Sisson about when "listening to your body" doesn't always work. Check them out, see if they are helpful for you:
