Have you ever asked a complete stranger in supermarket if on paleo?

Last night, I was in the checkout lane at the supermarket, particularly proud that there was not a single prepared food in my cart.

I looked back and the guy behind me likewise, and no prepared foods (lots of organic meats, fruits & veggies).

I smiled and asked: you on Paleo? (he said his wife was hard core, and he was 80%, and only cheats when she's not around).

HAVE YOU EVER HAD A SIMILAR EXPERIENCE?

Just curious, Mike

Ahhhh...mainstream Faileo. I commend you, though. I have never cared for See's Candies, but still don't think I could refrain from eating them if I worked there!

Working at a See's Candies I've had people ask if we have anything paleo. The closest we have is our assorted nuts, but they use peanut oil on it (otherwise a rather tasty, if pricey, tin).

It's rather nice to hear people inquire about paleo/the general health of our products, but at the same time I want to slap them. It's chocolate truffles and caramels and brown sugar and so on. Why even ask.

I get very tempted when I see people shopping in the gluten free section, to ask if they are celiac or gluten sensitive like me. But I get enough weird /surprised looks since starting paleo as it is lol

I was behind someone in line at Food Hole months ago and noticed they were buying this:

  1. steak
  2. wine
  3. kale (or some veg, can't remember)
  4. coffee

I quipped that they had all the essential four food groups represented. They got a chuckle out of that. It was a dude, for the record.

I have noticed something similar but didn't say anything. The guy was ordering deli meat and cheese. He had lots of fruit and vegetables in his cart, also fish, steak, and canned sardines. While he was waiting for his meat order he grabbed 2 packs of those thin whole grain sandwich bread things. Some of these people probably just "try to eat healthy" without know anything about paleo.
