Hashimoto disease and Paleo diet

Hello. I am new and trying to figure things out. I have Hashimotos for the past 10 or so years. And within the last year have been trying to find a diet that will help me in my struggle with Hashimotos. Online you can find lists of foods to avoid or to continue consuming. I now find this Paleo diet and it looks great. But, there are foods listed on this diet that as a Hashimoto's sufferer you should avoid such as broccoli, kale, strawberries, etc. I am confused. Is the Paleo diet the way to go?

I also have Hashimoto's. I feel a distinct swelling of my thyriod when i eat giotrogenic foods (strawberries, kale, cabbage, ect), though i will eat very cooked giotrogens a few times a week (never in a row).

Since going Paleo, i noticed the effects of these foods more. Also, steer clear of nuts because the Omega 6's definitely impact your thyroid (learned the hard way).

You may want to look into the Auto-Immune Paleo Protocol if you're looking into Paleo specifically for your Hashimoto's. I can't say that Paleo (not auto-immune protocol) has helped my Hashi's, but it has impacted my health for the better. I have Chronic Fatigue Syndrome as a result of my Hashi's and it has helped IMMENSELY with that.

I am not familiar with Hashimotos, so I can't give you specific advice, but I'll give some generalized advice I'd give anyone who had reactions to foods on any diet (whether it's paleo, primal, vegan, or even - gasp!- SAD) - avoid them. If it makes you sick, don't eat it.

Having said the above, is there a particular reason why you can't eat the foods mentioned? My quick googling shows Hashimotos is an auto-immune disease affecting the thyroid, but I'm fairly ignorant about why strawberries or kale might be a bad idea. Bottom line, if you know the foods cause a problem, don't eat them. If there's some wiggle room, maybe eat them sparingly.
