I am quite new to the paleo lifestyle and I am trying to understand the differences between different type of coconut oils. I am currently living in Sydney, Australia. I could not find any coconut oil so far in stores, but I found this on the web:
Is this paleo friendly? Can it be used to cook in the same fashion olive oil is used?

Hey, I live in Sydney too:) I spent a lot of time looking for a coconut oil either online or in stores. I know that most of the healthy food and vitamin stores stock it as well as some pharmacies. Yesterday I went to Dr. Earth Bondi Junction and they have quite a wide range. Also there's a good health shop in Broadway (don't remember the name though)...But I got this one recently http://www.nutritionwarehouse.com.au/banaban-pure-extra-virgin-coconut-oil-1l-pr-1108.html which I found pretty reasonably priced. The postage and packaging is flat 10 bucks so you might want to buy more than one bottle. I cook with it but don't use as an olive oil, as it's solidified. Or you might want to try some asian stores, I remember a long ago (before I was even thinking about going paleo) I saw one in asian IGA in Haymarket (above Paddy's markets) but haven't been there since so I have no idea what kind or how much it was. Hope this helps. And if you find a better deal, please, let me know (email@example.com), I'll be happy to save some bucks as this whole paleo thing is quite expensive one:-)

I'm in Sydney too! There are lots of health food shops that sell Coconut Oil in Sydney and the rest of Australia. I've got quite a bit of info about where to find Paleo products in Australia on my blog that should help you.
Hope to see you at our next Meet-up!

Hi All, I am a huge fan of Coconut Oil and the best of the best is INDAH's Handpressed Extra Virgin Coconut Oil.It's the most purest as it is all extracted by hand through muslin cloth and is jared in it's most natural form. It contains one of the highest percent of Lauric Acid on the market as well. I saw it in Health&fitness magazine and just saw it in Bazaar mag and a lot of celebs swear by it such as Miranda Kerr. Anyway I could ramble for ages about this amazing stuff but test it for yourself it's only $15 and available in most health food stores around australia. website is www.indah.com.au. Good luck on the Paleo diet guys and dolls.
