Hi everyone , I'm an IBS sufferer and since today I've started my new GAPS diet ( gaps diet is a paleo diet , without every kind of sugars ) . I'm paleo since 1 month , but I ate sugars at the same. Today is the first day that I don't eat sugar.. and I Feel very very weak..That's strange.. but I thought that could be the reaction of my body which were used to eat sugars everyday.. I'd like to get your opinions, I'am a little worried for this.. thank you all!

table salt is the iodineized salt, sea sea has no iodine....the iodine helps for hydration, sea salt does not but is tastier!

GAPS which is also an elimination diet of sugars and starches will cause you to 'detox' initially.

I would say, expect to feel a bit crappy anywhere from day 1 to 20'ish....but there are things to help combat this, just know that your body is responding to the lack of sugar and that is a good thing!

drink those cups of broth!!

use table salt, not sea salt to help combat dehydration

drink your water!!

get lots of rest, skip the gym during the first few weeks of introduction, it will just make things worse if not.

make sure you have prepped all your food to last a couple days (ie: cutting veggies, make a big batch of broth), it will save you much time and exhaustion if you are organized and ahead of the game.

good luck! Know that what you are feeling is normal!!

how much sugar did you use to eat?

give your body time to adjust.

make sure you eat enough fat. drink plenty of water and add unrefined salt to your diet to stay hydrated.

Are you skinny? Do you excercise alot? Are you eating some carbs, or how low carb are you?

Are you eating plenty of fat to make up the calories?

Some withdrawl may happen if you used to eat alot of sugars. High levels of sugar have a drug-like effect on the brain. It takes some time to switch from carb to mostly fats too (carb flu)

On the other hand, some level of carbs are needed in your diet. Most people spend time trying to find there ideal carb level by cutting it down low, and then scaling it slowly up a bit if they are irritable or low energy. It may be your level is too low or your not getting enough fat for energy, or your calories generally are too low...

I think wed need a bit more info, on activity level, body composition (skinny or medium or large), and definately more specifics of your diet etc, to answer this properly..

I am fairly new too BTW, this is just stuff ive picked up, I am no expert (hopefully havent got anything too wrong there, lol)
