I don't understand the preoccupation some folks have with "historical" versions of Facebook, as though Facebook is some evolved form of communication. If anything, Facebook is a more limited means of expression, albeit more widely shared, than previous methods. But it's certainly nothing novel, especially considering the social networks that came before it.

I think the Caveman idea of a "Poke" would be a hell of a lot different then the Face Book equivilant. Truth.

thanks! i would love to learn more about these etchings. Unfortunately the article itself is a joke, far too preoccupied with propagandizing facebook to actually convey meaningful information. It would be hilarious if it wasn't infuriating.

"Tribesman even bestowed their stamps of approval on drawings they appreciated ??? an instinctive, early form of the "like," says Sapwell."

What is this shit? The only thing facebook can communicate with is itself. Facebook prevents communication. The suggestion of it as an evolutionary apotheosis of human socialization is plain doublespeak.

Thanks for sharing this :) I have always said that communication is one of our basic needs. We are social animals. We always were, we are and we will be. Any business that is involved into communications is going to do well. Connections, connections, connections.
