Anything from McDonalds fit the Paleo diet and lifestyle?

I love McDonalds, and I love the Paleo lifestyle. Not so much the diet just the ability to break away from social conventions such as courtesy and bathing regularly. I want to become more Paleo by incorporating the diet into my life, but I do not want to quit eating at McDonalds.

I'm surprised at all the replies here. Isn't this obviously a slur/joke?

You love paleo not for the diet, but so you don't have to be courteous or clean? This question is obviously a plant, and adds nothing to the discussion.

they use vegetable shortening to fry fries and chicken. The ''meat'' is a mix of cereals, blood and some meat. Source : I worked there as a teenager and I read the ingredient list on the boxes.

thanks Flavio, good to know. though for anyone into fast food, the book Fast Food Nation says the only acceptable chain from a meat quality standpoint would be In 'N' Out Burger.

Interestingly, before 1990 they used lard/tallow to fry their chips in but stopped because vegetable "franken" oils were cheaper. I guess the question is, what at mcdonalds are you addicted to and work on eliminating that problem.

i used to work at macs and i can assure you they don't use any type of oil. They just through the burgers on a sort of hot plate or something and grill it for a while.

To me paleo or primal is a lifestyle. Its not just about what you eat, but it is about finding better sources for your food and living a life more balanced with your environment. Its about understanding that all food is not created equal, that the fats in a corn fed cow may be different from the fats in a grassfed cow. Its about supporting farms and organizations that are giving back to the earth not zapping it for profit. Paleo is not just eat meat and veggies.

While mcdonalds may have some options for an emergency meal...like say a salad with no croutons....all the seasonings and dressings are going to be full of chemicals that are NOT paleo. There really is nothing on the menu that is truly paleo. Your best bet is find alternative fast meals in your area that are more in line with paleo.

Since you don't want to quit eating there, just bring your own food. :-)

Seriously, what do you eat there?

"Big and Tasty without the bun" - order it that way and it shows up on a plate with a tomato, onion, piece of lettuce and ketchup. Drink a big glass of water with it and you're good to go for another 12 hours. It very nice when you're on the road and didn't bring a can of sardines.

Nothing on the menu is Paleo that I know of but like everyone else said there are things you can do to make that stuff more paleo. Get rid of the bun, No sauces. You'd be much more satisfied just eating real paleo foods they taste much better than those burgers that have an ammonia based filler in them to kill the corn fed induced E-coli.

Their fries are the worst part, they give me angina. I don't remember the burgers being that much of a problem. If you must splurge on McDonald's, avoid the fries. Those are the worst fries ever. I don't know why so many people like them. I like my fries to actually resemble potatoes in taste and texture.

You should watch the movie fat head. realistically, you shouldn't eat mcdonalds at all, but not eating the bun or the really sugary sauces they use will make it more paleo. the mcdonald's salads -most of the really carby dressing is pretty paleo.

but still, the best answer is to cut mcdonalds out from ur regular diet. the quality of the fat in the meat, and the omega6/omega 3 balance is way off.
