6 Weeks and No Lost Weight, HELP!

I have read so much on Paleo and seem to get mixed messages. Please let me know if you see anything in my plan that I can change or need to be doing different. I have not lost any weight but my body fat percentage has dropped from 38% - 34%. I do a crossfit/bootcamp workout 2-3 days a week for an hour. We run in class so I previously have not been doing any extra cardio. This week I am stepping up and adding 3 days of cardio to see if that starts to help. I know I am gaining a lot of muscle and can see the development and my stomach has shrunk from eating better, but clothes still fit the same and scale hasn't changed.

Details: Age 31, height 5'2", weight 159lbs and female.

Food: I typically eat an average of 1500 calories sometimes less on days I don't workout. My calorie intake braks down to 31% protein/ 24% carbs/ 45% fat.

Protein:121 grams Carbs: 94 grams Fat: 78 grams

Average day meals: Breafast: 3-4 egg whites, 3 slices of turkey bacon, and 1/2 cup blue berries Snack: nuts or kind bar Lunch: 3-4oz grilled chicken breast, with mixed salad greens, 1/2avocado and olive oil/lemon dressing snack: 100 cal muscle milk, and apple Dinner: 4oz of chicken, turkey, or beef with sweet potatoes, and asparagus Cheat: I am still fighting sugar and carb cravings and have 1oz 70% dark chocolate Water: 64oz water is all I drink

Thanks! Hayley

White rice is my crack. Maybe it's because I'm Asian. Sweet potato just doesn't cut it for me, although I eat it from time to time. Anyway, if I can have a little bit of rice everyday, I don't get the intense cravings for sweets and junk food.

4 % body fat is still pretty amazing. Dont give so much creedence to the number on the scale. Get a good tape measure and follow your progress like that insteadn (as well as bodyfat %) Be carefull with all the cross fitting and cardio..too much working out of that kind may cause a cortisol rebound - espescially if not properly fueled. http://fitnessblackbook.com/diet-tips/how-many-carbs-per-day-to-lose-body-fat-it-depends/comment-page-2/

Why not eat half a sweet potato instead of 1/2 cup of white rice? Still carbs, but more nutrients. :)

Got it, so cut down on the fruit, up the calories a little, start eating the yolks. Don't do milk and already lift a lot in crossfit. Its so hard to get the old "diet" and all the crap I used to do out of my head and understand that eating fat and higher calories is not a bad thing. Thanks for all the answers!

Also, the histamines are in the egg white. I sometimes do 2 yolks and 1 whole.

(Also, maybe try some lifting and lower endurance daily exercise in addition to your 2-3 day cardio. Just a few mile walk around the block everyday.)

Ewwww, stop eating only egg whites. That's what SAD people do. 99% of the nutrition is in the egg yolk. It's also likely that you gained muscle mass, on top of losing fat, which would make sense why your weight hasn't shifted. If your stomach has shrunk and you look better, why are you getting upset at the scale not moving? I hope you realize that being fit is more important than weighing some arbitrary number.

Switch out the berries with vegetables for now. Dump the milk. Dump the chocolate. Add more calories and exercise. You're not eating enough, I feel pretty weak on 1500 and no exercise (my body would go into energy-saving mode.)

Who cares about weight loss if your body fat percentage has gone down & your stomach has shrunk?

Eat more red meat and the whole egg. I think your animal protein is too lean. Cut out the sweet potatoes while trying to lose weight, eat leafy greens and cruciferous veggies instead. I eat 1/2 c of white rice with lunch and dinner in order to curb my cravings for sugar and carbs. See if that helps.
