Cholesterol/Lean Meats

Hi, so I have been doing Paleo WOE for 17 days...After 11 days I went to see my endo doc and she told me I was down 14lbs. However, she told me that my cholesterol level was 249 and that I should consider going on meds (which I really dont want to do). I have never had cholesterol problems in the past - even when I was 300+ lbs...so I explained to her that I had recently changed my WOE and explained my new menu to her. She felt that the numbers could be schewed a bit but recommended that I start eating lean meats, more turkey, chicken breast, lean red meat (not to eat more than 2x per week), fish, etc.....so can anyone help me out here...in order to obtain weight loss on Paleo should I be eating more lean meats than fatty meats? I already use a lot of kerrygold butter when cooking...I also eat eggs and bacon almost every day (at this point I have been substituting bacon and salmon)....can anyone provide some guidance.

Thanks, my LDL is 152, HDL 55, Triglycerides 208, Total Chol 249...any thoughts or concerns? do you think these numbers will go down in another 7 weeks? Thanks

Thanks, my LDL is 152, HDL 55, Triglycerides 208, Total Chol 249...any thoughts or concerns? do you think these numbers will go down in another 7 weeks? Thanks

What was your HDL vs LDL cholesterol? Total cholesterol is one of the most meaningless numbers out there.

Paleo followers and others experience some wild cholesterol number swings when actively losing weight. When your weight changes settle down your cholesterol more than likely will as well. That being said the numbers don't mean as much as the docs think they do. The doc is going on old knowledge. Read up on the matter before taking that advice. Cholesterol Con or Cholesterol Myth are two search terms you can use to find more info.
