How to mitigate big stress?

Hi. How do you continue to be happy and hopeful in your life about the future when there is stress? How to keep functioning well? Obviously, there are Paleo and eat well, sleep right, and we understand these stresses better, and they make us happier.

Any other strategies and your thoughts for stresses you have other wise? You take a big walk in nice park? Calculate maths? Look at your life, think about your priorities again?

Like your wife is angry at you and your laundry didn't wash or your boss is a really bad boss or your sister will die soon? And you didn't do the laundry or take the trash because you are stresses?

It seems that your mind is caught in an endless run around of stressful thoughts. Some of those things you can change right away and others you cannot. First, try to let go of the things you cannot change. As negative situations come up, take a breath and appreciate the moment. This buffers you from reacting negatively and adding to your stress. Stay mindful of your emotions during each moment, good or bad. Notice when your mind is about to go into a stressful vicious circle of negative thoughts. Find your triggers. Sometimes just realizing what sets us off takes the power out of it. When I realized how others negativity fed my own negativity I was like 'Wow! Now I know how to avoid that!'

Also try a hobby. I lean on my guitar for stress reduction. Its the only thing I do that I don't feel like I should be doing anything else. Find your thing that isn't a task or a chore, its what you want to be doing when you are doing your tasks and chores.

Here is a good author, and my favorite book by him, on mindfulness and being thankful for the present.

Here is a great blog!

In the end, just breath. @Henry 5
