Has Paleo/Paleohacks jumped the shark?

I can't help but in the scenes where they're on their laptop/iPad that they're perusing PaleoHacks.

Do you realise we all sound this crazy?

Also, love the eating coconut oil... "This is normal" scene.

I think PH was likely a source of their inspiration. I swear I've seen somebody asking about smoking stevia here... and the wild rice after kettlebells, something similar here.

Lately I've been reading about Salish basketmaking. Do you realize that these women strapped a couple babies on boards, then carried them out into the woods and mountains to gather strips of cedar bark and beargrass? Now that sounds crazy....but that was also real life paleo. Incidentally, the baskets of berries they picked in the summer could be buried streamside and kept cold enough to stay fresh for several months.

on a serious note. Paleo jumped the shark when it went from using an evolutionary mindset with common sense approach to diet to the end all be all cure for everything so long as there is a pubmed article that uses the right words but doesn't actually have anything to do with what I am talking about. Also when fat went from an essential nutrient to THE cure for all that ails you, eat it by the spoonful, this is normal.

I am so starting Mexican paleo.

Funny, after reading some of the questions for the last week or so, I was about to post the same question....

I like the thought experiment though.

I got very tied into the weeds of trying to optimize my diet when I realized that I was trying too hard. Eat the best quality, least processed food you can and enjoy life!

"The wizard of Oz called -- they want their straw man back."

I laughed hard. :-D

"I eat more vegetables than most vegetarians." ... honestly, for many of us, I think this may actually be true.

I think most "true believers" in any subculture like this are bound to sound bat-shit crazy to outsiders. Subcultures develop "hip" lingo usually, that means something when they are communicating to each other, but sounds insane or inane to outsiders (e.g. "thinking outside the box" and "maximizing synergy" actually means something to some, while making others wince).

I don't think paleo has jumped the shark, 'cause there is no Fonzi and there is no shark - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MpraJYnbVtE . I think paleo has just gone completely mainstream.

So, I'm on day 7 of the 30, and day 6 of the whole 21 day sugar detox and I totally had this n=1 realization that my k2 d3 and o3:o6 is totally locked down given that the a20 rule is more like 100, 0 right now.

"ugh chronic cardio" , "I know right"

"is that yogurt?" "yea, I do Swiss paleo".

'I know, I sleep 27 hours a day!'

I also can't help but think that the video makers were reading paleohacks. Maybe I'm not moving in the right circles but I haven't encountered such fervency in real life. I don't go to CrossFit though heh.

[NB- I'm sure my stereotype of crossfitters doesn't apply to all those who go there ;) )

Anything you do to the extent of actually gaining an opinion/knowledge sounds crazy. Humans are crazy. That's why so many of those "Shit X people say" ring true.
