Everyone has heard for years about avoiding salt. I recently read that some people (Paleo) are getting insufficient amounts of sodium. I've also read that salts like the brand "Real Salt" can lower blood pressure. Is this another health item that has changed recently?

Yes, too much salt can be harmful, especially in a high carb diet. Too little salt however, is even more harmful.
We need a variety of minerals, so purified table salt is not ideal, and many of them have added ingredients that are harmful. While the iodine is helpful, and we need it, some manufactuers also add anticaking agents such as aluminum, which is a neurotoxin.
