Paleo Diet?

Hi there,

I came upon this site by chance when looking up diet-related concerns relating to Grave's disease.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but can anyone explain this diet to me please.

I've been on Carbimazole for 8 months for an over-active thyroid and no matter how much I diet, keep putting on weight! Help!!

You were Googling 'diet and Grave's disease', and yet you can't simply Google 'paleo diet'.

The Paleo diet, simply put, is a diet consisting of only Human Food. Yes there is such a thing as 'non-human food' that you probably didn't even know you were eating.

Non Human Food: Wheat, grains, dairy products, beans and soy products, vegetable oils, high fructose corn syrup, nitrates, sulfates, phosphates (better yet if it sounds like it came out of your high school science teacher's chemical closet, don't put it in your mouth) bran, any animal that wasn't fed its own required diet; I.e. a corn fed cow (bad), and excess starches.

Here is the best part, the paleo diet is so simple you can remember it on one hand: Meats, fats, veggies, nuts, and fruits. Count 'em off!

This is what human food is. It is not some new fad diet, in fact it is two million years old! This is how we evolved to eat, for all of that time up until ten thousand years ago, a drop in the bucket really, we ate essentially those five things. Count 'em off again! In fact we ate only what we could hunt and gather. Archaeological evidence has shown that this was the peak of human health up until the agricultural revolution. So, just as we don't feed a dog chocolate (not dog food), A Paleo dieter does not eat those Non-human foods.

We can find the non-human foods in almost all processed products on the shelves today. And every one of them is either highly toxic, highly allergenic, or just plain detrimental to your health! Many auto-immune diseases are now being attributed to these frequently ingested devils as well as to our new sedentary way of life. (That is a whole other story.)

So, a paleo diet once again is simply Plain Old Human Food.
