Is it possible to be a very healthy vegan?

A friend just sent me this video of a 71 year old vegan raw foodist who just looks amazing. I myself am on the paleo diet and I'm amazed that this is possible. Do you guys have an explanation for this? Doesn't this go against the science which supports our paleo diet?

I'm interested in your views. Here is the video:

Mimi Kirk hasn't been vegan that long. In fact, for most of her life, she hasn't been vegan. However I feel this subject has been discussed several times before and we don't need any more of these threads.

Yes! So many times, I've met tiny, slender women and I've been jealous until I realize each one has a long list of health complaints more debilitating and serious than mine. I want to continue dropping fat but I'll definitely settle for great health if that's all that happens.

I think her looks are largely just luck of the genetic draw.

Lots of things are possible. My adoptive mom is 82 years old and has a fantastic figure. She was an acrobat and gymnast in her youth, and has, to all visible appearances, remained a hottie right up until a few years ago (and to some old dudes, she's still a hottie).

However, she has Type I diabetes, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and terrible arthritis. She's had four major surgeries throughout her adult life, each one removing a major organ or part of a major organ. For the last 20 years, she's been on a long list of medications.

But she looks great, and she's 82. (Not only that, I grew up under her domestic and culinary regimen, and I didn't end up looking nearly as hot as she did, to put it mildly, lol.) People vary, and some people are like a Timex; they can take a licking and keep on ticking.

ETA: I didn't want to say this because it's been said so often here before, but after hitting "post" I felt oddly remiss, so here it is: Even a raw vegan diet probably represents a net improvement on the SAD.

I suspect a lot of that is the hair and decent makeup. But she is genetically gifted, no doubt. I've got a couple women in my family who are similarly gifted, and the thing they have in common is genetics and a strong belief in taking good care of their skin.
