I'm giving great consideration to doing this I'm starting to get back in the gym but as many know you need to have a good handle on your diet first so I would greatly appreciate any tips on the subject or anything I should know.

Well to be fair, the original poster asked for tips. This is a "hacking" website. It may be the case that Paleo does not require it. In my view lots of people who start paleo for a myriad of reasons find the shift to lower carb & higher fat challenges a lifetime of eating in a diametrically opposite fashion. Lots of other people have provided a plethora of links to great websites giving a wide range of what paleo is. I provided my tip. The OP can discard it if s/he wishes. So can you.

Haha... people damn sure will think you're crazy. But guess what... only a few days in and you'll see who's crazy. People aren't even eating FOOD for Chistsake!

Things you should know:

  1. It works.
  2. It isn't really all that hard.
  3. Most other people will think you are crazy.

If you can embrace (and even enjoy) 3, then it's a lot easier.

My own view is that you need to take time to get fat-adapted. If you get it right you can really feel it. Lots of people can't get round the idea that they can eat decent amounts of good quality fats and feel better or lose weight (if that's what's desired).

Once you've achieved this how you fuel your body will change. You health will improve. Your body will visibly transform itself over a period of months. You will heal. But it is a process, a journey, not an event. So take your time.

Depending on your reasons for doing this, being back in the gym at this stage may be a help or a hindrance. It's hard to tell without more information.

Good luck

Don't get stuck thinking that X is the paleo diet. There is no one "true" paleo diet. You will have to figure out what foods work best for you. Long term, you have to be happy with what you're eating. As far as a link goes, I like this one:

-Do enough research before you dive into it.

-Have a nice list of paleo frienly recipes lying around, that way you're not always researching on the internet for what to eat (http://paleodiet.risap.com - site is all about reviews of paleo cookbooks out there)

-Robb Wolf, Loren Cordain- Their websites are robbwolf.com & thepaleodiet.com. They are really popular in the paleo community.

-Plan your meals in advance, it'll save you time in the mornings especially if you work early (for example, if you're meaking paleo breakfast patties, freeze the patties the night before that way you can just warm it up and go!)

-Don't follow the diet strictly. Incorporate your own things. Make sure you listen to your body and eat what's best for you or what makes you feel good!

Hope these tips help!
