People who can't lose weight on Plaeo: Are they liars or just insane?

Answered on August 19, 2014

Not to be rude here but I find it very hard to believe that people who follow a TRUE (i.e. not the bastardized version) of the Paleo diet can't lose weight.

I have been obese my whole life. I have been sedentary my whole life. 5 years ago I decided I wanted to be in shape. I was 35. I went on Dr. Mauro DiPasquale's anabolic diet (not pure paleo but meat and fat heavy) and transformed my body to the point that I was accused of "juicing" it.

Currently I am 40 and have been pure paleo for 3 years. I eat meat, veggies fruit and nuts and nothing else. I am fairly active (weight lifting and boxing 5-6x a week) but I have friends that are way more active than I am. I can't keep fat on. I like to stay around 12% for my facial features and it's a struggle. I have to eat tons of carrots, stalks of celery, kale, fruits etc. And I find if I over due it my metabolism speeds up and I lose more BF.

I went through this site and read a bunch of whiny post that they can't lose weight. I call BS on that. I won't buy a medical issue as Paelo will correct all metabolism issues in a week or two (and trust me mine was damaged severely due to a ridiculous Dr. prescribed fast). If you aren't losing weight on Paleo then you aren't on paleo. There is no way someone can't lose weight eating Paleo. No way.

You're mistaking "a lack of nutrients" with "different kinds of nutrients." They're not the same concepts, and they effect the subjects differently.

LMFAO. Nice excuses. "Science" experiments nowadays can never 100% confirm their subjects are following the prescribed diet. No one is eating exactly the same and if you think they do you are an idiot. Enter Nazi Germans. You get the point. You know the Germans documented weight loss and it was exactly the same for every prisoner.

Hey, whaddya know. Starving people starves people. Go figure. I'm not talking about a lack of food: I'm talking about eating food that will effect the human body one way or another. Lots of scientific documented fact that shows people on similar diets with one losing 10 pounds, one losing 5, and one gaining 1. Lots of people who start cutting calories lose 10 lbs of water the first week. Guess what I lost? 5 lbs in two weeks. So much for 'the same.'

Truth is you are making excuses because you a failure and a loser. Only losers make excuses. My workout partners are 40+ year old women who look fabulous. Oh and when I was fat I was lazy and gluttonous. That's how I got fat. My hormones went to shit because I was fat. Once I corrected this through Paleo I became a machine....a beef injecting machine, no lose skin , no stretch marks (coconut oil works wonders).

Thank you for pointing out that people don't go to paleo just to fix weight issues. My gf was 125 lbs and 19% body fat. We switched her to paleo to help with some really intense bipolar problems. Me? I weighed 255 lbs at 5'7". Guess our same diets effected us totally differently.

Minus one for being an insensitive jerk. As a 40 year old male you have the blessing of not being a metabollicly resistant female whose hormones are programmed to store fat. Any recollection of how you felt when you were fat and everyone insisted you were a lazy, insane liar because "of course, we all KNOW, CICO works"? You are being just as nasty to people who work much harder than you to lose weight. Didn't learn much from your own experience, apparently, except how to be a jerk like them.

Nobody has the human body figured out to a T, it's too complex. The smallest variation in biology can inspire major changes in an organism. So you and I are 99.999999999% the same. And yet we look nothing alike. You think that kind of chemical variation can't go on in regards to hormones? Of course it can. You can put 5 people on the same exact diet and exercise plan and they will all have different results from it, down to ridiculously simple things like water retention. Because it's actually not that simple.

Too bad I am not fat. Weight issues weren't what brought me to Paleohacks, nor have I ever been overweight. If it works for you, good, and please share what has helped you, but don't assume that no one has problems that you haven't experienced that could be a factor. Do you have any questions you would like help with, a particular topic that you would like to help others with, or are you just here to be a douche?

If you're actually 40 years old than it's a damn shame you haven't grown up to the point of realizing that everyone is different physically, mentally, and emotionally. What works for you won't work for everyone.

I totally understand the concept of not babying people who eat poorly and then complain about their health, but giving people crap over it is counterproductive. Fix your attitude.
