I have been very good the whole few months being on paleo but as it was easter recently and alot of my family did give me chocolate eggs and rabbits ect i couldn't hlp myself i ate quite a bit of chocolate and i still have alot left in my fridge, but my main worrie is have i ruined all my hard work and what should i do with the rest of the left over choclate? I have tried over looking it and don't want to hurt my partners feelings by giving away his gifts.

Thank you for the advice i gave most of it away and my partner understands he even agreed next year to get me fruit or nuts or make a paleo friendly breakfast in bed.

starving people really dont need chocolate...granted if i was starving, i would certainly eat all the chocolate you handed me! take the gift, but keep your partner informed on how well you are doing on paleo, keep working at it and they will see the difference!

"I couldn't help myself." Really? I believe you aren't giving yourself enough credit. You can do whatever you want to do, which definitely includes forgoing any chocolate. Leave it in the fridge, and if you want some, eat a piece of fruit instead.

Could you bring it to your workplace and share it with co-workers? If you have an office desk, you could place it out and people could just grab some of it when they stop by. Or if you have a break room, you could bring it there.

Firstly, share. It's the nice thing to do.

Secondly, stop STRESSING. I lost 150lbs, and am still losing. Christmas came around and I went nuts on truffles, cheeses, salamis etc... from the 20th-1st of Jan. I gained 3lbs of water weight and dropped it within a week of back on normal eating. Yes you can slow your progress or slow your weight loss but acute overeating doesn't do any real harm. Chronic over-eating is a problem.

Question for you, T33gz: why is it acceptable for you to have to eat the chocolate that was given to you, certainly by people who know you are watching what you eat, and yet you won't take this to your coworkers at work?

The answer is that it is not ok. You can tell your partner you really appreciate the sentiment but just don't indulge anymore. You can thriw the chocolate away. You can pass it on to a coworker (or several coworkers!) with children. You can even donate them to a food bank.

Please don't accept 'the gift of something' as a reason or obligation to eat it. At the end of the day, a gift should be received graciously, and that is all. A gift is never meant to induce guilt, and if it does that's another motive (sabotage?) masquerading as a gift.

how much did you get? Personally I enjoyed the eggs I got but I didn't get tons and only one milk choc egg since everyone who knows me knows I don't want milk chocolate.

Giving it away and/or sharing with people (the people who gave it to you... just eat it around them and offer it a lot)... very easy way to get rid of it :P haha.

Most importantly, in the long run it isn't going to hurt and its ok to indulge in something like that once in a while as long as you are not overly sensitive to any of the ingredients (though ofc anything with wheat in I wouldn't bother indulging in at all and I'm not celiac).
