Lutein, diet, fibro, once more

I don???t think I did a very good job of explaining how the paleo diet and lutein have worked together for me. The diet eliminated all my intestinal issues, that have been with me for decades. In addition, roughly half of my body, muscle, nerve pain disappeared, literally overnight. The lutein took away all the remaining pain by relaxing the remaining tight, taunt muscles. Even some chronically sore muscles, that had been sore for years, disappeared in hours (takes ~2 hours for the lutein to work). I think it works as well, if not better than Lyrica, however, with no side effects. And, now that these muscles are relaxed, they have a chance to repair and recover, plus therapy such as active release, massage therapy, stretching, physio, ???.. are more effective now.

So if the paleo diet isn???t totally effective or if you like to cheat on it once in a while, like me, give lutein a try. There are some foods I really miss, like spaghetti and meatballs, and every so often I splurge. I only use whole wheat spaghetti though, but it does satisfy the craving. The lutein seems to calm down the impact of the forbidden foods on my system.

I take 3-6mg lutein supplements a day, sometimes four if needed. Does anyone else have this kind of response?

I spent 6 months going on and off lutein, trying different pills, strengths to convince myself. Believe me, I couldn't believe it either, but after going on and off so many times I am convinced. Also it works for one of my daughters and a coworker too. Granted that is only three people, but it is 3 out of 3 so far. Anyways, lutein is cheap and if it doesn't work, what have you lost. If it works you will be stunned, I still am!

Hi Barney. You seem to have drawn a very strong correlation between the changes you have experienced and the Lutein you supplement with.

However, correlation does not equal causation. How do you know it was not just the diet and if you were to stop the supplements, but continue the diet you would not have the same results?

Really there are so many variables.

I would be more interested if you had something other than your own personal experience (n=1) and the correlations you have noticed.

That said, I am overjoyed that you are feeling better and I hope you continue to always be so healthy.
