I've been paleo for a while now. I have managed to lose about 50lbs and keep it off for about 4-5 years. But during this whole time I have wanted to lose an additional 15-20lbs to be at my ideal weight.
I bounce between 190-200lbs. I'm 5'6" male. I've recently turned 30 and want to really get down to 185-180, I figure this will be a very good healthy weight. I could probably stand to lose more but I've always been a heavier guy so I'm sticking with realistic goals.
The only thing that has worked for me in these 4 years has been going ketogenic, I got to about 185 but eating the amount of fat I was eating scared me and I went back to a more balanced paleo approach and gained my weight back.
I'd say the only thing I can think about is that I have 1-2 glasses of red wine almost every night. I know I should start by cutting that out completely and seeing what happens but I've done that and it didn't have a huge impact.
I do run 3-5 times a week 1-2 miles and I lift weights, currently doing a full body routine. I do carry some muscle, I feel strong but I'm still about 20-25% body fat ideally I'd like to get nearer to 15%
I've even done some powerlifting routines for a while and only seemed to gain muscle but not really lose any weight, I'd rather be lean and agile than bulky.
So paleo-buddies what advice can you offer me? In not losing hope! When on keto I counted calories and that helped but I've been a strong believer in the no calorie counting aspect of paleo. Should I ditch this dogma?
