Least bad to buy conventional

What foods are the least bad to buy conventional? I was looking for a few from each general category: some proteins, vegetables, fruits, nuts and oils. I don't want better or perfect to be the enemy of good, so I'm doing what I can with what I have. That said, should I go for lean or fatty meats? Should I even do meat, or should I stick with fish, poultry, and/or eggs? I know with veggies, I should buy what has the smallest edible surface area and peel what can be peeled, but for the rest, I'd rather not subject myself to a slow and painful death because I tried to eat a carrot.

Here's a good post from the Paleo Mom listing meats in order of "goodness:"
