What is the consensus on Undo's Oil? I purchased this supplement and then realized that the oils in the blend are not on the Paleo list.

The body has definite, immediate use for DHA and to a lesser extent, EPA. And speculating on why the conversion from short-chain O-3 to long-chain O3 is not fruitful when the evidence for the converted end product is so clear.

Um. Maybe the conversion is SUPPOSED to be complicated. As in, maybe EPA and DHA are highly unstable in the human body?

Do you mean Udo's Oil? If so, rest assured that Udo Erasmus would lend his name only to a high-quality product produced and packaged in a way that maintains the effectiveness of the oils from their original sources. I spoke with him in the mid-90's about his work, and he told me that he originally endorsed another vendor's EFA product but was dismissed as an endorser when the vendor went from dark glass to opaque plastic packaging, and he told them that was harmful (oil and plastic are both electrically polar and leach into each other).

The problem I see with plant-based sources of omega-3 fatty acids is that they require a complicated conversion to the form the body can use, and many people's bodies don't do the conversion well. It's far more effective to get the 100???200mg of DHA we need daily directly from cod liver oil, krill oil or algae, which is where the cod and krill get it.
