Almonds - Health Contradiction

So overeating almonds is bad because it'll throw your Omega 3 to 6 ratio off. And this is bad because consumption of too much Omega 6 is correlated with inflammation; yet almonds are an anti-inflammatory food source?

And does anyone have a reference in which proves that 100% of the Omega 6's in almonds gets absorbed by the body?

I remember before I read up on this I consumed a jar of peanut butter a day or a jar of almond butter a day and felt pretty damn healthy. I don't know why I let myself believe in something on paper so blindly.

Plant omega 3's and 6's arent absorbed that well. If you are one of the people who absorbs them better genetically, youll also benefit from the omega-3 in some plants (like walnuts for example). I personally think nut fear is overblown as well. Your omega-3-6 ratio is not going to be blown out by a few nuts like it is with vege oils. And if you get some salmon, its even less likely, seeing as EPA/DHA is absorbed much better.

The omega 6 from nuts thing is out of context in my opinion as well. I think it's because nuts have other beneficial, health promoting properties that outweigh the omega 6 downfall thing, like large amounts of omega 9. Plus, we need some o-6 in the diet to be healthy. We're very well adapted to eating nuts IMHO. Healthy HGs like the Kuhn! will eat vast quantities of the mongongo nut when it's in season, which is largely composed of omega 6.

Not every single omega-6 you consume is inflammatory.

Omega-6s are ESSENTIAL Fatty Acids. They are only inflammatory after a certain point. If your O3 intake is good, that also keeps O6s in check. Different O6s fatty acids do different things. Linoleic acid for example is a component of your sebum.

don't know about 3 to 6 ration, but half a kilo of almonds in one sitting got me to an emergency with acute development of kidney stones ----- those almonds be damned, as it looks like my right kidney doesn't function properly ever since...
