I suffer from depression and started eating paleo after reading that Omega balance plays a big part in mood. So far my happiness level has increased loads, the improvement was quite quick as well. Has anyone else experienced this and does the effect last?

I had/have very noticeable change in my mood when I went paleo. I was quite depressed most of the time and had a fair amount of anxiety. What a difference paleo made!! I couldn't believe it. And I'm quite solid as long as I don't fall off the wagon. Any meal with negligible amount of wheat and like clockwork the next day. I'm hit with a wave of an emotional cliff dive. Wheat is by far the big one for me. I can have a little sugar, or something with oil (say, I have some wings when I'm out at a restaurant) once in a while and I'm pretty solid the next day. But. . . a cookie? It's emotional suicide for me.
Keep running with it! There's not many things that can make you feel happier than a clear mind on top of all of the other paleo oddities. From better skin, maybe losing a couple pounds (or kilos if you're from those parts of the sphere) to less depressed. It's wonderful.

If I may jump in here with a question? Was the change immediate with going paleo or did it take a while? I'm asking because my bf started paleo about two weeks ago and his depression worsened gradually over the first 10 days or so, hitting a really scary low that lasted about 3 days. He's much better again now, actually more cheerful than I ever saw him. But I'm not sure if the sudden improvement is due to paleo or normal after a really bad low (it's the first rock bottom episode I've witnessed). If anyone had any input, that'd be marvelous.

Eating paleo has improved my sense of happiness incredibly. I can't even describe to people the difference. I wish I could because it's such a huge change. A couple friends of mine went on a program that has them eliminate flour and sugar forever and make sure every meal includes at least a quarter cup of olive oil. That's all. And they have experienced the same improvement in mood. One of them is off antidepressants. My friend was so happy to talk about it with me because like me, he can't find anybody else who understands what an incredible change it is.
I don't know if it is the omega 3s or the lack of flour and sugar or what the cause is.
