Can tinned sardines, say one tin four days a week, replace daily fish oil suplementation?

Diet wise : No vege oil consumption but chicken and pork eaten at least weekly. Other meats are grass feed beef and lamb, minimal fruit, lots of veggies either steamed or sauted in beef fat. Some dairy - occasion cheese and cream. Eggs daily. The sardines will be eaten with a large salad, no dressings.

Im a big fan of kippers as well. I only ever eat brine or olive oil packed sardines. I will go hungry before I eat soy bean oil.

Thanks. I will double check the lids on the cans. The cans do not appear to be lined at all, but yeah, I will double check.

Problem is that the cans are lined with BPA unless you find a BPA-free source. Even that's not guaranteed, as often the lids contain BPA even though the can doesn't. Finally, BPA is not the only lining material which causes hormonal issues.

Absolutely, and in my opinion, totally preferred. I'm strongly considering cutting out my fish oil supplementation this summer (I take Cod Liver Oil in the winter for the vit A/D, and switch to Fish Oil when I start getting more sunlight).

Just make sure that you are either eating "water pack" sardines or a safe oil pack (olive oil), usually they are packed in soy oil, or worse.

For variety and a bit of smokey flavor you can't go wrong with a good organic water-packed kipper as well. When they are done properly I refer to them as "Fish Bacon" and they are great.

I agree that they're much better than fish oil. One can of vital choice sardines, for example, provides 2.6 grams omega 3, 80% RDA calcium, and 28g protein.

I think 3x/week would be optimal, maybe alternating sardines and mackerel.
