That study used alpha-tocopherol (at a ridiculously high dose), which depletes gamma-tocopherol.

I'm with you man. I'll just drizzle a little palm oil over potatoes at dinner just to get the natural tocs. I don't actually cook the food in it - I'll use coconut oil for that.

I have tried cooking foods in Red Palm Oil, but it alters the flavor of foods quite a bit. Eggs work, but I think just taking a couple big spoonfuls of it is not so bad. It certainly doesn't taste anywhere near as disgusting as cod liver oil. And it helps if you chase it with another food/drink/flavor of some sort.

But I like the fact that the virgin palm oil has the natural tocopherols and tocotrienols, which is better than many of the synthetic versions of VitE that are available to swallow. Masterjohn has written about this and says some of the concocted supplements can actually be counterproductive.

I do because I eat sardines at least 5 times per week (and/or other oily fish like wild salmon) -- E in my multi plus 400 IU of AC Grace Unique-E in the AM and 50mg tocotrienols in the PM. I recently cut back a bit on the 400 IU after reading some articles claiming that supplemental vitamin E (and/or C) can purportedly block the benefits of exercise on insulin sensitivity. Don't know if the studies are valid but it sounded plausible:

In theory that seems like a good idea... but what about this study?

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/9168460

The results demonstrate that supplementing the diet with n-3 fatty acids resulted in an increase in lipid peroxidation, as measured by plasma MDA release and lipid peroxide products, which was not suppressed by vitamin E supplementation.
