you are going to struggle to get olive oil from olives grown in the uk as olive trees need mediterranean levels of sunshine. if you want local oil, then there is a lot of of high quality cold-pressed rapeseed oil around. most supermarkets provide a wide range of high quality European oils. if you are prepared to pay up, many superb olive oils are available in delis up and down the country.

If you are looking for high quality, genuine, artisan, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, we import directly from Italy at Livolio (www.livolio.co.uk)

I tend to buy Spanish as I've heard there better quality.

San Leandro's tends to be pretty good tasting.

I love olive oil, but I recently read this:

http://www.foodrenegade.com/your-extravirgin-olive-oil-fake/

and now I've become wary and don't know what to buy. I especially want to avoid Italian olive oils.

Any idea where I can get local authentic oil grown in the UK, that it verifiably pure?

This is extremely good

and this

I like to buy my oil directly from the growers, like this; no middle men, no adulteration, just superb olive oil. I currently have about 7 litres in my store cupboard and it is delicious.

I buy mine from Oxfam. It's organic, fruity and peppery, fair-trade etc. That's the brand: http://www.zaytoun.org/products/catalogue/organic-fairtrade-extra-virgin-olive-oil/
