my brother-in-law is proud of his thin-crust pizza and occasionally will cook up a pizza buffet at a family gathering...if I've been religiously avoiding grains and breads for a year or more on paleo, what effect might it have on my system if I indulged in one of these fiestas...it's very hard to resist when everyone else is pigging out and washing it all down with good beer...I like being sociable, especially with family, and hate to think the only way to resist is to avoid the situation...and of course, one slice leads to twenty, just like one beer leads to ten or more...what damage would it do if I got right back on the horse the next day?...I'm sure we all face these dilemmas at times...

do you have an auto-immune condition? if so, NOT worth it. If you don't, I would be cautious as gluten can seriously wreck your projected good time- I indulged in some cake balls at a wedding after being paleo for a few months and had to leave really early because my stomach was in SO MUCH PAIN. If you're going to do it, I would take an activated charcoal capsule with every piece of pizza and beer you drink, along with some loperamide. If it was me, I'd make some killer paleo pizza and drink gluten free beers or cider.

I say go for it, enjoy a great evening with family, friends, pizza and beer! Yes, you will feel like crap for the next day or two, but sometimes it's worth it. I cheat on occasion, mostly to be social with family and friends. I feel physically horrible the next day, but I don't regret it as I've had a great time with family and friends and I enjoyed whatever I ate or drank.
