Should I eat my wormy chestnuts?

I bought some chestnuts from the store a few days ago. In this new batch, I cracked open four nuts. One out of the four had a small dead larva in it. I know that acorns often get infested with worms but I was unaware that I would encounter one in my chestnut. I have a textarea*Few*textarea questions about chestnuts...

-Is it okay to eat raw chestnuts? Should I roast them? Is the protective coating toxic? -Should worms appear in my chestnuts? Should I ignore them?

Any posts will be appreciated.
