Is fish brain of any use?

The place where I come from, it's considered almost foolish to purchase the head portion of a fish coz it's a little to no nutrition in it. Does it hold good while on Paleo?

Noob with cooking... pardon my naive query

No, it's in front of the gills, closer to the mouth. The first link contains a picture if you scroll down the page. The second link is a guy writing that he eats the heads and cheeks. http://www.tillamookbayboathouse.com/halibut.htm http://www.fieldandstream.com/forums/campfire/mmmfish-cheeks

I grew up with fish heads being used for stock. I've never eaten it outright, just the goodness it added to my Grandfather's amazing fish soups and stews.

Weston A. Price found traditional Irish cultures that stuffed fish heads with oats and ate them.

I'm sure since there's the "gross factor", no ones really studied the nutrition content of a fish head.

I would assume it's safe to eat since people make fish stock out of it. Try it and let us know!

I have no experience with this, but I have seen on food shows that the "cheek" portion of the fish is some of the best meat! At least in Korea it seems to be prized.
