this may be irrelevant, but as my previous posts go, its no secret that im searching for answers to my own health, but some discoveries i am frequently finding go like this:
nutrition is a balancing act. its no big revelation, but when you think about it: phytic acid- it can deplete iron and calcium and magnesium, but also can fight against cancer. for example having too much iron in ones body some science websites say cause abnormal heart rate- what about someone with anorexia who already might have an abnormally low heart rate? couple that with years of amenorrhea (absence of periods) whereby losing iron on a monthly basis does not occur for years- coupled with that person already being susceptible to heart failure and consuming iron rich foods such as beef liver and beef steak etc... could that actually NOT be beneficial to that person? rising the iron levels which is also known to cause a whole host of bodily issues, also having too much calcium is often seen in cancer patients... what if we need the chelating effects of phytic acid after all? phytates in certain foods such as nuts, seeds, legumes and wheat may inhibit the absorption of calcium and iron, but may also serve the purpose of overconsumption?
okay, this may all sound like gobbedy goop... but what im trying to say is, what if having pure wheat bran for brekafast inhibits iron and magnesium absorption, but also passes through the body getting rid of anything lurking in the bowels!- but then the rest of the day is filled with foods such as beef or chicken liver with spinach and a vitamin C rich foods which enhances the absorption of iron- such as beef and grapefruit salad, or bone marrow with squash and carrots or steak and pumpkin... what im saying is what if the balance of consuming phytate rich foods deplete certain iron levels, but the rest of the food that is iron rich (shiitake mushrooms/bone broths/liver combined with iron absorbing foods such as vitamin c etc) are actually more beneficial in the long term as wheat or oat bran do not contain omega 6's such as nuts and seeds....
this is just a thought... but what if its all one big complex balancing act and not as easy as excluding variuous food groups?
dont feel the need to reply if you think this whole concept is a bit ridiculous but im just thinking out loud here as from personal experience i probably have extremely elevated iron levels from not menstruating for 14 years etc... and high iron can cause gastric issues such as constipation, and dry skin.

Nutritional science is not so much a balancing act as it is a brutal slurry of endlessly different viewpoints addressing scientific minutiae with minimal daily application. It's pedantic and largely pointless, as the point of diminishing gains is usually reached pretty quickly.
This is coming from someone who wasted years obsessing over every dietary detail; o3-06 ratio, vitamin supplementation, fish oil, protein and fat in the morning vs at night, to fast or not to fast, yadadadada. And you know what? I was anemic and had cripplingly low testosterone. I was underweight. I shat my pants if I had too much o6 one day but ignored the fact that I was well below my ideal weight.
EAT REAL, NUTRIENT-DENSE, MINIMALLY-PROCESSED FOOD. NOT TOO MUCH, NOT TOO LITTLE. AVOID OBVIOUS BULLSHIT, STAY ACTIVE BUT DON'T STRESS ABOUT IT, GET GOOD SLEEP, AND IF YOUR PANTS GET TIGHT THEN CUT BACK A LITTLE.
Perhaps my opinion is at odds with those Paleohackers in search of the cure-all, perfectly structured dietary strategy, but what's the point of having perfect form when your day is spent browsing paleohacks and focusing on your goddamn dinner plate? There are girls to bang, songs to sing, love to give, and joy to bring.
