End of Day 2 and not feeling well...

I just started Paleo and tonight I am feeling really funky... stomach is achy headache and sort of hot almost like I'm getting sick but not... lol Is this normal?? I was a junk foodaholic before finally deciding to change my life then saving up for the initial grocery store trip to replace all the flours condiments and ect.... Just wondering if it's ok...

Thanks!

Ashley

It is definitely getting better... just taking some time and I've been eating more proteins and some vita coco which seems to be helping it out more... Today is by far the best day yet... I actually feel like I have more energy today compared to any of the past 30 days! I guess it's starting to go away!! :)

Is it really that easy? Haha I HATE sweet potatoes :( Day 1 consisted of Paleo Pancakes and Bacon then a Turkey Club on Paleo Bread and Salmon Cakes with Bok Choy for Dinner and fruits and nuts for snacks...Day 2 was Eggs and Paleo Toast and an orange then another Turkey Club and a Green Salad for lunch and Cod Piccata and Roasted Broccoli with Red Cabbage and Orange Salad with Lemon Chili Dressing...Today I had Bacon and Eggs for and some pistachios for a snack I did pick up some Vita Coco on my way to work and after drinking some of it and eating the pistachios I feel a bit better.

I am following a meal plan that I found it's only a week but it called for Turkey Club Sandwiches with Paleo Bread so I figured I'd bake some and use it... lol I guess my body is just realizing it isn't getting the trash it was use to?

Eat some carbs and don't go cold-turkey straight into paleo, ease in. Goes against nearly every guru/blog/book out there, but changing one's diet should not be done quickly, unless you enjoy digestive upset and general malaise.

I had the same thing as well. I had a completely junk food diet, and switched cold-turkey to paleo. I felt sick flu symptoms for two days, woke up the next day and felt better than I ever had in my life. I was concerned because I had read that it can last for weeks.

I've had this exact feeling several times, and "fixed" it by eating carbs and sugar. I didn't realize that this was a good process and temporary side effect of transitioning to healthy.

So it's still bad... I am working nights and today I wasn't able to stay asleep I kept tossing and turning which isn't normal for me and when I got up to cook breakfast I felt very weak and my muscles seem sore and I'm nauseated on and off... Still normal? lol!! I DON'T want to give up but I want to make sure this is an alright thing :)

Thanks!

Others describe it as carb flu. Sounds about right. I never had it because I eliminated various things from my diet over a long period of time and one day woke up and realized I had become Paleo.

btw - don't replace all that stuff right away, you will be able to do without substitute flours, condiments, etc. Just eat veggies, meats, fish, fruit, nuts, potatoes, etc.
