Diarrhea after eating late?

I've woken up with diarrhea two separate times...and I ate late both nights. But I also had canned salmon both nights. Would the salmon be causing my diarrhea? Or just eating late at night? How could eating late cause this if it his is the problem?

There's a thing called rapid loading, rapid dumping. It fits your description, but I doubt that is what you are experiences. There are also bacteria that can grow inside of canned foods which may have caused your symptoms, but it would be odd for that to happen with two separate tins (unless they came from the same batch?). A third possibility is that it is too much fat in a single sitting. Fat can really soften up stools. So you need to experiment a bit. Here's what I would do:

1) Eat a can of salmon for lunch one day. See if you have the same reaction

2) Check the salmon, is it packed it oil? If so, try the salmon with water for a test. See if you have the same reaction.

3) Eat the same amount of fat (like a nut butter) in the same amount of time late at night. See if you have the same reaction
