What am I missing?

I switched to paleo a week ago and I feel amazing. I have about 15 pounds to lose, but my primary reason for switching was to find a lifestyle rather than a diet. I keep reading about how difficult paleo is and the detox process. I haven't experienced that at all, no fatigue, no light headedness, no weird carb cravings and it's kinda freaking me out. Nothing. I feel awesome, I've dropped 4 pounds, and my workouts haven't suffered the way they did on a low carb/low fat diet I've done in the past. So what am I missing? Is it because I didn't do whole30 and just jumped into regular paleo? I've eliminated all carbs but veggies/fruit, eliminated all dairy, and eliminated all legumes...shouldn't that make me feel fatigued? The only non-paleo thing I consume is a cup of black coffee some mornings (and probably a glass of wine at my friend's birthday tonight). But really, I feel like the amazing food I get to cook on paleo is better than any non-paleo food available. Is the paleo diet really this awesome?

Agreed, people usually tends to go all-in and pair the paleo lifestyle with other 'tweaks' on their diet like switching to low carb strategy, low calories, etc. If you stick to the same macro ratios and fulfil your daily energy needs as you were doing previously I find it difficult that you could find any difficulties by ditching junk food and replacing it with real food.

You are doing the right thing. People that are more metabolically broken are more likely to suffer before getting used to paleo. Just eat lots of real, whole foods and get some quality exercise and you will be fine.

I didn't find I suffered when I initially went paleo either. I immediately felt better. Maybe everyone's just different.
