Needing a bit of help.

I just posted my profile, what I did forget to mention, is that I have been a vegetarian for 5 years, so going back to eating meat is going to be interesting. I stopped eating meat for health reasons, and I have a hard time with morally with how the processing of meat.

So, anyone else out there???? Now, having said this, I am also 120lbs overweight, so I will do what it takes.

Was it slow at first? I also do not eat pork or shellfish, as I am Jewish, and that is one thing I will not compromise on.

Okay, Help again.

Thank you.

Some people become ill the first few times they eat meat. Personally, I had no problems at all. If you have the opportunity to buy ethically-raised meat from small farmers, give it a try. It's more expensive, but you can actually talk to the people who raised the animals and be reassured that they lived well right up to the moment they were killed. (as a bonus, you also know that they were raised eating the animal version of a paleo diet, as opposed to being raised on soy byproducts, diseased tissue, and whatever other trash the manufacturer could bribe the USDA into letting them use).

I was a vegetarian for 2 years, and when I went back on meat--it was so painful. It felt like someone was punching me in the gut. I would recommend avoiding super lean meats for a while b/c I found those hard to digest. I would suggest eating grassfed lamb, goat, and beef, which my body tolerated better. Also by choosing grassfed ruminates, their lives are often better--they get to play outside and aren't stuck in small pens. The worst day of their life is their death. If you were a vegan, I would go the egg route first--high quality pastured eggs. See how your body handles those and then proceed to small quantities of meat.

Sorry I am not sure I understand your question. Is your question about humane treatment of animals is it about something else?

Don't worry about pork - it is not that good for you anyway, unless those piggies are free-range.

If your question is only for those who used to be vegetarians - sorry - I ate meat all my life, so I would not know. However, I can recommend you to find out more about Denise Minger. She was a vegetarian and her whole site is about it. You can just google her name.
