Judge me please!

Hi, I'm a 26 yr old (5'9" 164 lb) woman with a full time on-your-feet job and an active city lifestyle (NO CAR) three weeks in and it's going really well! I've completely cut out sugar aside from fruit and small amounts of dark chocolate. I'm done with grains, soy and legumes aside from some leftover hummus I had in my fridge and my continued consumption of tempeh (fermented soy product). I've been cooking all my meals in coconut oil or grass-fed butter and switched my nuts all to raw.

My vices that I am going to continue to allow (so please don't harp on this): I drink a lot of coffee as part of my job M-F, and I have more than three drinks on both Friday and Saturday night. At least I try to stick to bourbon instead of beer, beer actually makes me feel terrible now that I have cut out all the grains.

(My food diary is here http://whatshecaneat.wordpress.com/)

But as an example here's today if you don't want to click through.

Breakfast 6 AM: 3 scrambled eggs, diced turkey, raw cheddar cooked in butter

Lunch Noon: (leftovers from last nights dinner) Garlic Chicken sausage from Trader Joe???s cooked in butter with a can of diced tomatoes, capers, kalamata olives, carrot, tons of Kale, onion, garlic, tons of basil. On a bed of raw spinach.

Dinner: Broccoli tossed in coconut oil and fresh lemon, skin-on salmon pan seared in coconut oil, lemon and red pepper

Ok judge away! Any input is welcome. I'm enjoying my food, and cooking so much that I feel like I must be screwing up somewhere.

The only really terrible thing that has happened is I learned about apricots...the hard way. :(

Next step is I am considering adding some simple supplements, trying to reduce my grazing habits, developing a specific fitness regimen, possibly attempting some IF?

Totally get the processed meats thing. I'm an ex-vegetarian so the processed stuff makes me a bit less squeamish as of now but I'm working on it. My previous diet was a long time low-fat grain heavy vegetarian with almost no dairy. I've been adding the cheese in because at first I was eating almost no meat and felt that I needed the protein and fat boost from it. Things are shifting though and I'm getting more into eating meat. :) I even tried venison last week! Thanks for your answer and I'm definitely going to try bulletproof coffee. I'll take any excuse to eat coconut oil!

My goals are to just feel awesome, keep cooking, keep learning more. I feel great and having this diet is making me so conscious of what I put in my body and how it is used. My alternate breakfast is usually fruit and plain greek yogurt and recently I discovered frozen berries in kefir as a dessert which is delicious! Horsereadish is a great idea as a new flavor to add to my dinners. Thanks!

just reading your meals makes me hungry!

what are your goals? do you feel well how you are eating? i personally love fruit just to get a sweet taste in the day.

also, not sure if you eat horseradish, but i always put some on my salmon before i saute it. it's the bomb.

i don't want to judge you at all! :) but, I want to tell you what I personally would change on your sample menue (not that you have to do it, just what I would do differently :) )

Personally, I would not eat the cheese for breakfast, and I would skip the sausage (processed meat) from your lunch. Instead maybe add a can of wild salmon or wild sardines.

I think the coffee is fine....i myself do bulletproof coffee (8 oz coffee + 1 tbsp of grass fed ghee + 1 tbsp of coconut oil) for breakfast and don't eat till luch, but that is a very, very personal decision for me and it goes well with me. not everyone has the same experience....

so that is my input!!! :)

Good luck, and I think it is awesome that you are embracing on the paleo lifestyle! :)
