2 weeks in and blown away

hello,

I decided to begin transitioning to Paleo 2 weeks ago. For the past few months I have recognized I needed to clean up my diet. 2 weeks ago I started paleo, I did not weight myself or anything. 1 week ago I weight myself and came in at 208. I weighed myself yesterday and came in at 204.. Not bad for one week. I have been weight training 3-4 days a week and running a couple days a week.

Past few days the cravings have been hitting hard. I haven't really had a cheat at all in the last two weeks so today I broke down and ate two ice cream sandwiches :( I guess as long as I go back to strict paleo it should not matter?

Yes my family is not Paleo, desserts and scrumptious snacks such as rum balls, childhood favorites banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, and hot freshly out of the oven butterscotch oats or fresh warm banana oatmeal chocolate chip muffins with peanut butter

Agreed! Well said. What is done is done, no use crying over spilt milk as well, get back on your feet. You're not dead so you'll be ok.

Thanks for the reply. Yea normally that is how I eat ice cream.. I never buy it at home for that very reason. Well I think this lapse has motivated me more to get back on progress.

I don't think Dan was trolling. God some of you are sensitive. Be more like a tough caveman and less like a wimpy vegan. (That was trolling btw.)

Yeah, the only food at my house is paleo which makes it easy. the problem is when I go to work, we have a ton of junk food in the break room all the time. Challenges my will power every time I walk in there!

Downvoted because you're making a slip up sound like deliberate destruction. Even if it doesn't make it okay, trying to correct past mistakes is still better than not doing anything.

Most of us struggle with the cravings and occasionally break down. What is important is not turning a slip into an all out failure.

I personally like to live by the motto "Everything in moderation, especially moderation". I go a little nuts some times but I always get back on track quickly and my result have been awesome IMHO.

Well Done so far!!!

I'm sure a little cheat here and there is not so bad. 100% is obviously the goal for us all, but we all slip - don't beat yourself up too much. As long as you go back to your plan.

Congrats. I was on Paleo for about 8 weeks with no strong cravings, then, when I began running again, I noticed an definite increase in my appetite (I tried to satisfy it mostly with fruit, which I had previously been avoiding). Interestingly, dispite my increase of carbs, my weight loss increased as well. Each of us is different & we have to experiment to see what works. Personally, I couldn't eat 2 ice cream sandwiches - I can eat 0, or I can eat a whole box of 8, but not 2. I admire your restraint. There are no bright-line rules for this type of situation. Experiment to see what works for you and know that whatever minor variations you choose, it is still much heathier than how most people eat. Good luck!

Cravings may come and go. Fortunately, they'll go a lot more than they come as you continue. Good luck. Don't stress over the little glitches and you should do well.

Sounds like you're doing quite well! I've heard that the cravings can be worst about 2-3 weeks in, but I never experienced this. Be sure to clean out the house of bad stuff and stock up on healthy alternatives. While still fairly sweet, you can usually find banana chips that don't have weird stuff in them. Coconut milk blended with frozen berries is a great smoothie/shake for when you're craving something slightly sweet and cold. Just be diligent and stay on track as much as possible. You'll find your own system soon enough.

If you cut down a forest, does it matter as long as you replant it later?
