Hello. I am a female, 36 years old, 4 ft 10 inches tall. I weigh 271 pounds. Obviously I am obese. I want to change this and think paleo is the answer! Can anyone recommend the right amount of fat/carbs/protein ratios I should eat? Also how many calories should I eat? I plan on starting tomorrow. Thank you so much!

eat paleo foods. eat whole foods aka meat, vegetables and healthy fats not processed gluten free junk or "paleo friendly" frozen meals. avoid eating out like a plague. you won't get anything truly healthy in a restaurant. make your own food. don't eat fruits or nuts at least until you have made significant progress. severely limit your carbs. exercise is good but don't overdue it especially at first. you can lose all the weight you need to with minimal exercise once your diet is dialed in. and remember that this a lifestyle change not a "diet"

Lot's of good advice from everyone here and certainly no shortage on the web. Check out Paleo Cupboard on Facebook as they regularly post free, for limited time, Kindle books. I have found this a great resource for recipes. If you don't have a Kindle you can download a free reader for your PC or smartphone. Good luck to you!

You need a variety of exercises, a good diet with a lot of water and discipline to follow through it all. Get a professional trainer for guidance during your exercises, probably 2 hours a day if you have a busy schedule. Take meals which are more filling with less calories in them, i.e. add more fiber to your meals. This site will also be helpful.

I wouldn't count calories.

Eat when you're hungry. Stop when you're satisfied.

Focus on eating whole foods. Protein (chicken, beef, eggs), veggies, and small servings of fruit.

Try making yourself an 2-3 egg omelet with veggies in the morning. For lunch have a salad with chicken breast. For dinner, some form of red meat with half of an avocado and a pile of steamed veggies. If your hungry throughout the day, munch on a small serving of unsalted nuts (no more than a handful per day) or eat carrot/celery sticks, or a granny smith apple.

If that gets boring, there are plenty of great websites full of recipes you can make: www.paleomg.com and www.nomnompaleo.com . I have some on my own blog too: www.thekoshercavegirl.com

Try to get in some form of exercise when you can, even if it's just taking a walk around the block. Get your blood pumping!

If you want to steadily lose weight, eat no more than 100g of carbs per day. For rapid weight loss less than 50g will do the trick. Sticking with meat, eggs, and low carbohydrate vegetables should easily keep you in the 50-100g range. I wouldn't worry too much about ratios because if you are sticking to the diet you easily fall into the correct ranges.

Start out by eating just about as much as you want of totally strict paleo foods. Don't make paleo pizza or ice cream or paleo brownies, etc. eggs, chicken, grassfed beef, bacon, and a ton of veggies cooked in coconut oil. Your body needs to adapt to fat instead of carbs, so you'll be hungry all the time at first. Soon, though, you will naturally want to eat less. (Think 1-2 weeks). Once you've adapted, listen to your body! If you feel like you're craving bread or sugary foods, look back at the source. Your body probably wants more carbs, so eat a sweet potato or a banana. Also, super dark chocolate is great if you only have a little square or two! You can do it, so props to you for coming here and making a commitment to change.
