My Period came 8 days early!

I am on day 19 of Paleo. My period started 8 days early and while on the NuvaRing. I am wondering if this is normal. I have lost 5lbs and feel fantastic! I run 5 times a week and practice yoga 3-4 times a week. Thoughts on the early period?

I'm not sure it helps to explain anything, but we are not alone- huh?

I had read a couple of threads about this issue but with ladies NOT on birthcontrol. Glad to hear someone had this issue while on birthcontrol. I was not sure my body should over ride the hormoes.

Totally normal. Your hormonal system changes because you eat a new diet. After a few months when your system has adapted and is in a nice balance, your period will be more regular than ever before.

We had a discussion on this a while back. Here.

Mine have shortened and never gone back. It's been over 2 years. I am close to perimenopausal, so that may be part of it. Honestly, I don't mind that much. My symptoms are so much better, and my cycle so much lighter that it's worth it. I have a personal theory that all this nutrient density is ramping up my fertility, lol.

I had a short cycle naturally (sometimes every 23 days, gah!) without hormonal BC.

Since I've cut soy out, and taken supplements for my liver, as well as a B complex at lunch, my period cycle has lengthened to 25 days in one cycle! Also, the flow was much better.

I visit a naturopath for "treatment"..Apparently liver function regulates hormones or estrogen dominance, or something funky like that.

But, if cutting soy and environmental estrogens (plastics, fabric softener, etc) hasn't helped, perhaps vitamins will :) A naturopathic doc might be worth it (similar to Chinese medicine, but not the same as homeopathy).

3 months into paleo and I think mine are shortening, which is strange, but makes me think a shorter cycle is what my body is "supposed" to have, as opposed to what I considered normal eating SAD.
