What are your impressions of Mark Sisson's new book?

His key core concepts rang true for me:

  1. getting to optimal in quick order with changes in thoughts.

  2. epigenetic switches via thought

  3. exercise in its proper context

  4. form a sugar burning person to a fat burning furnace

  5. burying the whole grain myth in totality

  6. shining sunlight on the realities of how fats help us

  7. altering body comp via selecting optimal foods

  8. uncovering what is optimal epigenetics in you, and optimizing how your brain accounts for calories optimally

Paleo is that popular??? I've been paleo for 2yrs and got my family on it too, but still thought it was a small sub-clique of the health community.

I guess he knew what he was doing when he put the "21 day" thing in the title.

Agree, the "21 Days" in the title smacks of a fad diet. Not the kind of impression a paleo/primal type should be conveying. The fad diet charge is one of the most infuriating arguments against paleo.

great point, it may attract more people than it turns off - that is a good thing on balance. i think the explanation of what is meant by transformation" is probably explained somewhere prominently on the book (i hope), so if someone was to pick it up thinking along weight loss lines, they'd soon realise it's much more than that.

Regardless of what the book says...

IT RANKS #3 OVERALL ON AMAZON BESTSELLERS

That is some mind-blowing shit. Number one is the Steve Jobs biography. Sisson's book is higher than Hunger Games, higher than Murakami, higher than John Grisham.

You know when a band gets really hot and you can look down on people and say "I knew them when they were starting out"? That's us. Well, it's actually Boyd Eaton and Loren Cordain. But also us.

We as a community have aduty to make this book a best seller. If we want to reach a tipping point we need to support those who support us. I bought 100 copies for my referral docs.

To me it is principle.

If we want change we must make it happen.

I agree with majkinetor...I feel like the general american public is going to see "21 day transformation" and automatically think that the books a way to drop weight real quick, real fast...the title makes it seem as if it's a fad diet. although i heard mark talking about it on robb wolf's podcast and it seems like a good book. i just think the title is totally misleading.

At first I was reflexively put off by the "21 day" thing, which seemed like the usual diet hyperbole...but then I remembered that when I went Paleo, it took me less than three weeks to be absolutely, no-turning-back hooked on the positive changes in my health.

If people see that title and pick if up for the quick fix, they're going to find it this time!

This will make an excellent Christmas present for my parents who are already interested in eating paleo, but thinks it takes to much of an effort in changing their hectic and busy lifestyle after watching me IFing. Actually, I'll buy it for my sister as well!

I haven't read it yet but Im happy to see someone like Mark trying to make paleo/primal a little sexier. Some people may look at the title and feel like he's selling out, but I think its only necessary to reach a more mainstream audience. Im looking forward to the "6 minute paleo abs" follow up book as well!

I've only skimmed it, but I'm a Sisson fan and I like what I saw in my first pass-through.
