Sprained my low back (pain when bending and lifting, no swelling or warmth) and I'm wondering how to heal it (got a ski trip in 8days). NSAIDs? isn't inflammation healthy for acute injuries? staying paleo and upped vit D to 4000IUs/Day. Up Omega 3s? Bedrest?
(no shooting pains down legs)

Bed rest is the worst idea. Keep as active as possible, but do not perform any movements that currently aggravate. Ice the area for 24-72 hours 20 minute out of each hour that you can. Thats the basics for home care besides getting proper nutrition and follow-up strengthening exercises after inflammation is down and ROM is near normal again. If you are not adverse to intervention then chiropractic has the best track record for speeding recovery of acute back injury.
