Should mineral water be carbonated?

It seems you can buy flat and carbonated mineral water. Is there a notable difference between the two other than taste? The main difference that I can come up with is that the gas may be bad for bloating and heartburn. Perhaps there is an impact on teeth as well.

If that's what you're after, get a sodastream and throw away the chemical laden flavorings that it comes with.

Carbonated water is slightly acidic. So it's possible it will damage teeth, but nowhere near what sugared sodas do. Other than that, if it gets you to drink water, it's not that bad IMHO.
