Milk consumption: Should I be concerned about my magnesium levels?

I drink a large amount of milk. Close to a half gallon a day. Should I be concerned about balancing my magnesium levels with this high level of calcium consumption?

Also, would Raw milk be better in terms of Calcium/Magnesium ratio?

Diet: Beef, Fish, Rice, Milk, Greek Yogurt, Veggies, Fruit

Supplements: 2,000 IU of Vitamin-D per day.

I would rather be concerned about lactose, casein and hormones.

I experience a body high after drinking ~1/2 gallon of raw milk in one sitting (does anyone else get that charged/tingly feeling?). I take it as a good thing. I do not have that experience after drinking modified milk. Your diet looks fine but definitely choose raw over modified milk simply because it is "intact".

Drink your milk while eating a few spoons of almond butter! Almonds are a pretty good source of magnesium, plus if you were a peanut butter eater as a child, it's going to bring back some nostalgia.

I went on a peanut butter and milk bender this past week. My grocery store was clearing out their organic, additive free peanut butter (probably because I'm the only one who buys it) and the self check out kept giving me coupons for Organic Valley pastured milk.

Have I eaten way too many calories for the week? Absolutely. Do I care? Nope. I was too busy feeling like I was 6 years old and coming in for lunch from a long morning of playing outside with my friends. Best feeling.

I think that the calcium and phosphorus together are what block magnesium absorption, though drinking a lot of milk doesn't always produce low magnesium levels. You might consider taking magnesium pills at a time when you haven't had milk in many hours.

I went on a bit of milk bender last week, and ended up with foot cramps that were quickly remedied by upping my magnesium supplement a bit. So maybe your body will let you know when you've hit that tipping point.

In general I'd say you probably don't have to worry if you are eating enough vegies and nuts.

I'd keep an eye out for added fat around the middle and if that happens back off on the dairy. Other than that, personally, I'd say enjoy.

I definitely think raw milk is a better choice, I also have been drinking sometimes even a gallon a day of raw milk and feel fine. As long as your eating your dense forms of protein and fat through nutritionally dense animal products you should be ok. If you don't feel too well then you might want to cut down the milk consumption and up your intake of magnesium rich foods.
