Meta: Why does every thread need to be a question?

Why isn't this like a normal forum? I don't understand the "question only" policy. At all.

@Jay -- let me throw a question at you: "Do you think if you do this, we won't notice and we won't delete or suspend you?" Thanks.

Cuz I didn't want a "normal forum" (they tend to suck) -- I wanted PaleoHacks to be a resource in a Q & A format.

Yes -- Patrik has been busy with a Paleo babby. But is working on another Paleo project. Progress is slower than I would like it to be -- but c'est la vie when one has a Paleo babby...

I think that was indeed the question. By the way, it's a stupid rule because it's arbitrary and easy to get around. For instance, "it's a stupid rule because it's arbitrary and easy to get around, isn't it?"

Paul-- yes, so true. Random thoughts on paleo fit in well at paleobabble.com, but paleohacks has a higher signal-to-noise ratio because of the question format. I actually don't like the discussions over at paleobabble.com very much.

I think we should have either a discussion section of the website or another separate website that is just a forum. (I.e, separate so Patrik doesn't have to bother with it if he doesn't want to.) But I like having the constraints of the question and answer format, with all of the other rules as well. It keeps us honest and makes us work hard to learn. And I think it also plays a big role in keeping this site remarkably (remarkably, remarkably) civil.

This is a site where you ask a question in order to "hack" your paleo diet. I don't understand why the FAQ doesn't answer that for you? Are you asking a more existential question like "Why can't this site be what I want it to be?" Patrik created this site for questions, you can ask him.

Thought I am not the original poster, I read the FAQ and, unless I'm missing something, don't think it answered the question.

We also have a guide to asking questions here.

THere are plenty of good paleo forums, check out Evolvify and Mark's Daily Apple

AC - you might also enjoy reading through this thread, as a lot of this type of thing was discussed in it... specifically regarding the future of PaleoHacks. Patrik says he's working on some things... not sure what that really means, but one of things discussed was the possibility of a "discussion section". I guess time will tell...

PaleoHacks isn't a forum --- it is a site where the interaction is between questions and answers (and comments).

I like this because it tends to keep the signal to noise ratio high.

From the FAQ:

PaleoHacks.com is a collaboratively edited question-and-answer site. It is not a blog nor a forum. We want PaleoHacks.com to complement, not supplant, the many thriving high-quality Paleo-themed blogs such as: (in no particular order)

It's the format of the Stack Exchange software. If you want a forum, check out CavemanForum.com, just don't tell them you eat dairy or they'll eat you alive and just fixate on that instead of what you're attempting to ask them for help with.
